Body Mass Index (BMI)

BMI is a measurement of your weight with respect to your height, often used to broadly indicate if a person is underweight, normal weight, overweight, or obese. It is calculated by dividing weight in kilograms by height in metres squared (BMI = kg/m2). The WHO regards the following BMI ranges:

  • <18.5 = Underweight

  • 18.5-24.9 = Normal Weight

  • 25-29.9 = Overweight

  • >30 = Obese
